Leopard Admin Beta Released

This entry was posted 5 months, 18 days ago. at 11:32 pm.

I made a promise and though it’s not completely polished, I’m releasing a beta version of my first WordPress plugin, Leopard Admin.

I never expected to get so busy this week and while I was on track to releasing a full 1.0 version of the plugin, I got caught up with work and SXSW preparations. It was silly of me to think that I could do it all. In any case, I didn’t want to let anybody down and have people continue to wait for this plugin. Consequently, I’m releasing a beta version of it. There are known issues but I would appreciate your feedback and if you could, please submit bugs in the comments to this post.

The current page for Leopard Admin is just a placeholder and I promise I’ll have screenshots and the page will look much nicer than it is. Here’s a preview of what I have in mind:

I will continue working on the plugin and this site after I return from SXSW. Until then please feel free to take the plugin for a spin and share your experience with me in the comments. Thanks again for all of you that waited this long.

Very nice. It is too bad there isn’t enough good admin themes. They really help make things a lot easier for admins. Plus, making things a little cooler looking doesn’t hurt either.

Keep up the good work, I’m looking forward for the 1.0 release.

Bug reports:

1. When updating a theme via Presentation -> Theme Editor after clicking “update file” the ‘file updated successfully’ box half covers the ‘Select theme to edit’ options.

2. I have a lot of tabs in the main Options tab. Here is what happens. (Note: this is not that big of a deal, thought I’d bring it up for thoroughness). http://animepodcast.org/teddy/bug01.jpg

3. Lastly, this is not a plugin I use, but Hello Dolly is does not work with your theme. A theme element covers up the text generated by Hello Dolly. It really doesn’t matter though since not that many people use it, but it is a plugin that comes standard with wordpress.

4. Also, when viewing the main Comments tab the top nav bar seems slightly misplaced.

5. My 404 logs are showing that these files are missing.

-/leopard_admin/lib/images/fade-butt.png
-/leopard_admin/lib/images/box-bg.gif
-/leopard_admin/lib/images/box-butt.gif

The referer for these 404s is /leopard_admin/lib/leopard.css which probably means there are some absolete .css entries.

6. In ‘Comments -> Awaiting Moderation’ the “recheck queue for spam” box seems kind of off. It is partially covering up text.

btw, I did not state this eariler but I am using Wordpress 2.3.3

Thanks for the great theme, I expect much more in the future.

Luis, thanks for posting the bugs. I’ll be sure to have a look at your list and try to have them fixed soon.

No problem. I’m glad I could help.
